Tips for Creating a Betting Community

Create Betting Community

Have you already bet on the Premier League in a betting community? It’s a lot of fun. The matches are that much more thrilling when you watch them anxious for your predictions to come true.

In the following, we will give you some advice on creating and managing a betting community:

Tip 1: Start the Betting Game on Time

In order to start a betting game the right way, you need some lead time. Ideally, you should create the betting game as early as four weeks before the matches start. That way, you have enough time to think over all settings and rules and to configure the betting game according to your requirements. Get familiar with the Kicktipp platform.

Tip 2: Simple Rules for Starting

Kicktipp offers many different options for configuring your betting game. You can set up many different rules, mix up leagues etc. We will not enter into this here. But if you want to create a new betting community, you should start simple. Your players will thank you for not confusing them with complex rules for different leagues. Only for more experienced betting communities does it make sense to change to a quota rule, for example.

But in the end, you have to size up your betting community yourself. Are the players experienced specialists? In this case, you can experiment more. Does your community run in a department of your company, and do you want colleagues to join in who are not that interested in football? In that case, select simple rule variants.

Tip 3: Invitation to the Betting Game

You’ve set up everything? Then let’s get started! Take pride in the invitation to the betting community. It is the first message your future members will see. Don’t wildly address everyone you know, but consider who might like to be invited by you. Enrich your invitation with a story. An example for a company betting game might look like this:

Dear colleagues,

the new Premier League Season is about to kick off!
Who will win the trophy this year, who will get relegated? Which team will surprise everyone?

Let’s see who among you knows their stuff and who only says they do ;-) You are invited to the

1st official Betting Championship

On every matchday, we will bet on the 10 matches of the Premier League and I would love it if as many of you as possible joined in. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a football expert - maybe it’s even better if you’re clueless ;-) as long as you’re enthusiastic!

Here you can register in our betting community:

Just click on “Become a Member” and you’re set. Choose a cool username and show your colleagues what you know.

I will donate a small challenge cup, to be ceremonially awarded to the betting king at the end of the season. And there will also be a little reward for the matchday victor every week. Play the game and find out.

Yours, Charles a.k.a. “Poacher”

Tip 4: Time of the Invitation

Take care to invite your friends and colleagues in time. One or the other may be on vacation, or incommunicado for a few days. The invitation should be sent at least two weeks before the start of the betting game , but not more than four weeks beforehand. If you meet your players in person, you can also invite them personally and tell them of your betting community. That way, everyone will know about it before the e-mail arrives.

On the Monday before the season starts, you should remind all players that it’s about to start and that the time for joining is now.

Tip 5: Offer a Prize

Prizes, prizes, prizes! Everybody loves them. It doesn’t have to be anything big and expensive; sometimes, small things are enough, like a little cup, a certificate or a jersey of your local football team.

Tip 6: Matchday Reports

Encourage communication between players by compiling regular matchday reportd. Who was winner of the weekend, whose risky bet deserves the most acclaim? Were the matches easy to predict or were there many upsets? Was it the player with the least expertise who scored the most points again?

A matchday report on the Premier League might look like this:

"Jackie" protects his lead! Congratulations. With 38 points for 6 correct tendencies out of 10 he was able to defend his first place against “TheMaster”, but his lead has been reduced to 3 points.

But what happened further down the table? “Carlinho” has recovered his mojo after a long dry spell. After sliding down the table and sitting rock bottom, he predicted an astonishing 9 matches correctly this weekend, among which the correct 4-4 between Liverpool and Arsenal. With 42 points, he is thus not only the matchday winner, but has climbed 5 spots and is back in midtable safety. Chapeau!

Let’s take a look at the next matchday. Some tough fixtures await us players. Can Aston Villa extend their winning run at Stamford Bridge, or will Chelsea put an end to their 5 wins in a row? Will the two weakest offenses manage more than a 0-0 in Birmingham? And will Bolton appoint a new manager?

Let’s see who will win this round… Until next week!

Tip 7: Watch Football Together

Why not organize a football evening for your betting community? Just print out your betting overview, so everyone can check their predictions, live, against the goals on TV. Suddenly, the lamest 0-0 is thrilling and you’re watching anxiously, hoping there won’t be a goal ;-) And if you’re watching you’re your friends and are in front until the 88th minute and are able to gloat about your genius, what could be better? Until the goals fall in stoppage time, that is .

If you have a laptop with WLAN, you can check the live scores at any time and see how your position in the betting game would be if the matches ended as they stood. Or: can “Jackie” overtake “TheMaster” if ManU equalise?

Tip 8: Crown the Betting King at an End-of-Season Party

On the last matchday or after, you can organise a meeting of the betting community. In a relaxed setting, you can then give the cup to the winner and pay tribute to the savvy of your members once more. Of course the perfect time would be the last matchday. First watch football and then have the awards ceremony; alternatively, you can choose an international or a cup final after the end of the season proper.

Tip 9: Allow your community a pause, restarting the community

When the season is over, give your betting community a break. 38 taxing matchdays are behind your players, and the summer break belongs to things other than football. As soon as the time has come, you can set up your betting game for the new season via “Restart”. After a few football-less weeks, everyone will be fevered up to get betting by the time your invitation comes around...

And now: have fun with your betting community. Create a betting community and invite your friends and colleagues.
