We have some tips for setting up a Formula One betting game for all racing fans:

Create betting community and select Formula On 2012 as betting game

Create a new betting community, select "Formula One 2012" under "League/Tournament", and the betting community will be set up automatically, with all the standard settings and ready to be played.

Standard Setting: What is being predicted?

The first eight to finish the races are being predicted, as well as the first four of the qualifying rounds.

If only the races are meant to be played, the qualifyings can be deleted in the administrator area, under "Questions".

If more or less drivers are meant to be predicted, this will require some more effort. To do so, read the instructions at the bottom of the page.

Standard Setting: What is the betting deadline?

You can bet until the official starting time of the races/qualifyings.

Changes can be made in the administrator area, under "Betting Rules". If, for instance, races and qualifyings are meant to be played until Friday at noon, you would select a "fixed" betting rule with the appropriate dates for each racing weekend and allocate it to the races. (The races and qualifyings are set up as questions in our system)

Standard Setting: How many points are being awarded?

In the qualifying, you will get 6 - 4 - 2 - 1 points, if a driver is being predicted correctly as finishing in 1st to 4th position. A point is awarded for a driver who finishes in one of the first four spots, but not in the position originally predicted.

In the race, 10 - 8 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 points are awarded for a prediction in the right position, and again, one point for a driver finishing in one of the first eight places but not in the spot originally predicted.

Changes to the allocation of points can be made in the administrator area, under "Points Rules". The points awarded for a correct bet in the wrong position can also be coupled to the points for completely correct bets. Thus I could award more points for a player predicting second place for the eventual winner than I would award to someone who had said that he would come in eighth place.

Standard Setting: Bonus Question?

At the beginning of the season, the drivers' and teams' ratings are being offered as betting options in addition to the top drivers.

Further questions can also be created in your own league administration.

Instructions: Bet on more/less drivers.

In order to bet on more or less drivers than the first four in the qualifying, or the first eight in the race, the Formula One season must be set up and maintained in your own league administration. In this case, the results must also be entered by the administrator. In the following, we will describe how best to proceed in creating your own F1 season:

1. Create Competition:

   This can be done in the "League Administration", under "Competition". "Formula One" or "F1" are likely names and shortcuts, respectively, but they can also be freely selected.

2. Create a Season:

   This must be done in the league administration, under "Season" Here it is important to select the season template "Formula One 2011 (kicktipp.de)", which will automatically create all drivers and rounds (racing dates).

3. Create a Race:

   As the races are set up as questions in our system, you must now switch to the menu option "Questions". If you have selected the appropriate season template beforehand, you will be shown all races and qualifyings automatically. Here, though, you can only predict 4/8 drivers. The copied questions must thus be deleted and re-entered. In creating the questions, you must pay attention to the following:

   • The name and shortcut for the races should be selected in such a way that it is obvious what race or qualifying is meant.
   • The "Races" option mustbe activated in order for the different positions to be evaluated.
   • You can determine under "x times" how many bets must be placed This value cannot be changed in retrospect. To change the value, the question must be deleted and set up again.
   • The date should be the beginning of the race or qualifying. You can also enter the deadline for placing bets, if you allocate a betting rule with 0 minutes of lead time to the question.

4. Restart:

   After all the races and qualifyings have been set up in your league administration, the betting community can be changed via restart. You must then select your individually created season, which you can find under "--Individual Competitions--".

5. Points and Betting Rules:

   In case of a restart, the "default settings" will be allocated. You should thus control the points and betting rules. The current allocations can be viewed in the betting community area, under "Fixtures". In the administrator area, you can make necessary changes via the menu options "Points Rules" and "Betting Rules".
   
   Pay particular attention to the points rules, as standard rules are attuned to the placement of 4/8 bets, which is precisely what you would wish to change.

6. During the season:

   During the season, you must enter the race results. This can be done in the league administration, under "Questions" -> "Enter List of Answers/Results".
   
   If during the season replacement drivers come up, you can enter this here as well.
